London, June 24. Musical intelligence extraordinary. In
commemoration of the alliance between England, France, and
Spain, a concert of vocal and instrumental music will
speedily be performed at the Cockpit, Whitehall,
First fiddle, Lord North.
Concerto on the humstrum, Lord Apsley.
A bloody march to St. George's Fields, on the trumpet, Lord
Barrington.
Solo on the Jews harp, Jerry Dyson
Royal solo on the bagpipe, by the -------.
After the first act,a song in praise of the King of France,
set to music by the late Duke of Bedford, will be sung by
Hans Stanley.
The song is set to the tune of "Who has e'er been at Baldock
must needs know the mill." The first stanza is as follows:
Who has e'er been at Versailles must needs know the King;
He's a very swarthy man, wears a very brilliant ring;
He has snuff-boxes in plenty and pictures to bestow,
As the ministers of George the Third do very well know.
After Act II, the following air will be sung,
AIR IN PRAISE OF HANOVER.
Hanover, thou land of pleasure,
Seat of ev'ry earthly treasure,
Thou soft'ring nurse of British Kings,
To thee we owe our great Georgius,
. . . [2 more lines]
After Act III, there will be a grand chorus, by all the
persons in administration; the words as follow:
Then here's to thee my boy Jack,
And here's to thee my boy Gill;
If we've plunder'd the nation,
To secure our salvation,
. . . [2 lines]
When the concert is over, Lord North will dance a hornpipe,
in order to exercise his limbs, in case he should ever be
obliged to cut capers in the air, for protecting an infamous
alliance with a state infamous in the annals of history, for
its perfidy and scandalous breach of faith.
